A winter wedding at Marybrooke Manor

It certainly was a cold day, but the warmth that was radiating from the love shared between Steff + James kept all guests in high spirits, celebrating the union between two very kind souls. Their wedding day was set amongst the Autumn leaves, crisp air and not a raindrop during those important moments outdoors.

The day commenced with James and the boys playing a few rounds of Pool and a cut throat shave in the cottage outside of Marybrooke Manor, whilst the girls were residing in the warmth of their hotel room, having a blast alongside the ever-so-sweet Candice from Beauty Within Mobile Makeovers. There was some emotion joys as James enjoyed a quiet moment alongside his Mum as he got into his suit, realising in a few short hours he would be wedded to the love of his life.

Tasmania Wedding Film | Kate + Alex | Quamby Estate

It is always a heartwarming feeling when couples invite you to document their wedding day. At one point, we are strangers when we first meet and have a chat, but soon after a friendship is formed and you become excited for them as the lead up to their wedding day builds. I first met Alex on a Contiki Tour across America a few years ago, and have since met his lovely partner, Kate – of whom are both genuine individuals and kind souls.

It was the wedding film that almost didn’t happen. Things luckily tied themselves together in the remaining few weeks after Kate initially enquired about her wedding film. In her words there was no one else that came close to capturing their story – which I am truly humbled by, which excites me to finally release our “overseas” wedding film.

KATE + ALEX

Quamby Estate, Tasmania

It is always a heartwarming feeling when couples invite you to document their wedding day. At one point, we are strangers when we first meet and have a chat, but soon after a friendship is formed and you become excited for them as the lead up to their wedding day builds. I first met Alex on a Contiki Tour across America a few years ago, and have since met his lovely partner, Kate - of whom are both genuine individuals and kind souls.

It was the wedding film that almost didn't happen. Things luckily tied themselves together in the remaining few weeks after Kate initially enquired about her wedding film. In her words there was no one else that came close to capturing their story - which I am truly humbled by, which excites me to finally release our "overseas" wedding film.

The setting was Quamby Estate in Hagley, about 30 minutes outside of Launceston in Tasmania. The venue just has to be seen in person to appreciate the beauty. A unique and iconic 10 bedroom country manor situated on 150 acres of picturesque country landscape. Meeting both Alex and Kate there the day prior, family were underway transforming the reception room with their own unique touches. From the moment I arrived, everyone was so welcoming and friendly which really made the day so enjoyable to capture.

Kate and bridesmaids were up early on the wedding day, with makeup by Ashton Townsend and hair stylist Elyse Hatchard. The magnificent homestead features spacious rooms with soaring ceilings and marble fireplaces, which was the perfect setting for all to relax ahead of the important few hours to follow. The weather was questionable throughout the morning, however that didn't dampen the spirits of Kate and her bridesmaids as they enjoyed each others company and laughs were shared.

Back in Launceston, Alex and groomsmen had a easy going breakfast as the boys suited up at The Grand Chancellor. Spending some time with Alex in the morning, the pre interview gave me insight into his relationship with Kate, and how they are suited to each other. With his quiet and reclusive demeanour, Alex is an easy guy to chat with and is certain Kate is his perfect match as they both compliment each other well.

Nerves of excitement were quietly brewing for Kate as the hours before the wedding turned into mere minutes - Kate had been hinting for a proposal for a while now she mentioned in her pre interview, knowing she had found her soul mate in the early stages of her relationship to Alex. Kate looked absolutely immaculate in her bridal dress - with flowers provided by Circular Head Florist. Happy tears were all around as the bridesmaids and Kate's parents first saw the bride to be all dolled up for the first time.

The ceremony was heartfelt and sweetly conducted by celebrant Dee Potter. You couldn't wipe a smile off Kate and Alex's faces as they exchanged their handcrafted vows to one another and sealed their commitment with a kiss. Fortunately the rain held off long enough for the remainder of the afternoon, and despite the gushing wind through the short moments of the ceremony, it was a union treasured by all in attendance.

It was a distinct joy to work alongside fellow Melbourneite and easy going photographer Clare from Clare Metcalfe Photography, who has a family connection with Alex. Clare, you were an absolute gem to work alongside and I really hope we can tee up again very soon to work our respective magic.

As the sun set in spectacular fashion, Kate and Alex enjoyed their time celebrating their union with their nearest and dearest family and friends. Docksters Rocksters were on hand to pump up the music throughout the night, as the party went well into the night.

And so, Kate and Alex... a heartfelt and enormous thank you to you both for inviting me over from the mainland to document your day. Thank you for trusting me to do what I do and to create a film which reflects your wedding day and you both as a couple. Kate, I'm sorry us on Contiki America stole Alex whilst he was overseas... however, had that not happened, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet you both and create a film for you. I look forward to many years of continued friendship.

Glen xx

Special thank you's to the fine staff at Quamby Estate, especially Jo Da Silvia who was attentive throughout the day and was so easy to deal with.

Thanks to Kate + Alex's wonderful family - especially want to make a huge shout out to Kate's parents Denise + Rodney for collecting and dropping off a light stand left behind at the reception! So kind of you both 🙂

Thanks to Lewa for second shooting and assisting in my first of hopefully many Tasmania based weddings. And thank you again for the Cadbury package you kindly sent in the mail post-wedding. I'm drinking from the purple mug as I write this.

Tameika + Shaun

TAMEIKA + SHAUN

Glen Erin Winery - Lancefield

From Shaun's heartfelt speech which had the whole room in tears, it is clear that they have an exquisite bond for one another. They both embed a caring, witty and loving union that is infectious when you are around them. Smiles are beaming. Sun is shining. The warmth that they both exude brightens up each and every day.

Tameika + Shaun are two of the sweetest people you will ever meet - on first conversation with Tameika I instantly felt like I have known her for ages, ditto with Shaun - with his down to earth easy going demeanour.

With family and friends of high importance to both Tameika + Shaun, they chose the idyllic Glen Erin Winery in Lancefield for their preparation, ceremony and reception locations. The boutique accommodation situated in the beautiful countryside of the Macedon Ranges provided the ideal setting for all to be together at the one location, overlooking some of the breathtaking scenery and picturesque vineyards.

They met in a taxi line back in 2007 on St Patrick's Day... the story of their courtship was retold during their ceremony which was officiated by Jane Welch - who has a history with Tamieka so it was extra special to officiate such a heartfelt occasion. Keeping it in the family, Tameika's brother Joshua was the MC for the reception which was filled with laughter and comedy.

Tameika looked absolutely gorgeous in her Anna Campbell dress, with her flowers provided by Gisborne Cottage Flowers. Shaun was smiling from ear to ear as Tameika was escorted down the isle by her parents who could not have looked any more prouder of their daughter.

As always, working alongside one of my favourite photographers Mel from Milk Photography was such a treat - and a lot of fun, as we captured the pure candidness of Tameika, Shaun and their amazing bridal party.

Thank you both for such an amazing day - you both are something special :o)

Telisa + Rob | The Willows

With love and light, we are overjoyed to share the nuptials of Telisa + Rob, a wedding filled with smiles, laughter, happiness and fond memories.

From the first moment I met with Telisa + Rob there was an instant chemistry that just screamed love. The way they look at each other and interact, the way they subtly smile at each other with their eyes and how they light up within each others presence. These two are clearly suited for one another, and since their first meeting through mutual friends, their instant attraction to each other has lead us to this union before us today.

Preparations began with Rob and the boys chilling out and casually getting dressed with laughter and fun times, whilst Telisa + the girls were dolling it up reflecting on the past few years with happiness and excitement. Exchanging cards and presents meant Telisa + Rob could express how they were feeling about the lead up to the wedding day, and share their fondness to each other through written words. Telisa looked absolutely immaculate in her Raffaele Ciuca dress, with her makeup by close friend, Sherene (Makeup by Sherene), who actually connected us to Telisa + Rob, after filming Sherene + Richard's wedding some years prior.

The ceremony was at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Malvern, where happiness and smiles flourished from the moment Rob and Telisa arrived, through to the moments they were finally pronounced husband and wife. Friends and family gazed on witnessing the love and union between this amazing couple.

It was an absolute delight (as always) working alongside Laura + Kim from Laura Wakelam Photography. Their candid, unobtrusive and easy going natures meant we were able to capture Telisa, Rob and their bridal party doing what they do best... simply enjoying the day and time with friends and family.

With the reception at The Willows, we knew all the ingredients were in place for a stellar of a night... the food, the drinks, the relaxed and candid atmosphere was the perfect setting for guests to mingle, and simply enjoy the night.

One of the best parts of my job is to meet such amazing couples and these two were no exception. It was a really fun day and I'm so thankful that Telisa + Rob trusted me to capture their special day for them.

Kristy + Hayden | Fenix Receptions

As a cinematographer and editor, every once in a while you come across a wedding story which just seems to flows organically. Nothing staged, nothing scripted. A story just presents itself in the purest and honest form, and after compiling all the happy moments tied together with an emotive score which reflects the day to a tea… you’re left with a perfect summation of what true love is. Emily + Paul | RACV, Healesville

To capture Emily + Paul’s wedding day and to share in their excitement, laughs and happiness was a pure delight, and it is an absolute joy for me to be able to finally share their wonderful day through film. I first met Emily back in 2012, covering her sister (Lauren’s) wedding so it was an absolute treat to reconnect with the Archibald family embarking on a new and exciting event… planning the wedding of Emily to Paul.

You couldn’t help but smile when you look at Kate + Dave on one of the happiest days of their lives… both are amazingly kind, genuine and utterly pleasant souls who share a heartfelt bond with one another. Seeing them both interact with each other with subtle glances and fondness would make anyone hopeful in finding their partner for life. Continue reading
