ASH + DAN
Mimosa Glen Homestead
Truth be told, I jump with glee when I have to travel for a wedding. Whilst Melbourne has some pretty spectacular venues and landmarks, there is something unique about weddings that happen in the middle of nowhere. Away from the hustle and bustle of city traffic. Out in country Victoria, in Tooborac, a super sweet couple were preparing for their wedding day - which fate seemed to have in the making from the very beginning...
Meet Ash and Dan. They first started dating when they were in high school after they met at the supermarket owned by Dan's family. Some seven years, three overseas army deployments and one uni degree later, Ash still held a sweet spot for Dan in her heart and thus enters our love story today.
The day kicked off with a surprise for Dan... we had discussed in our Skype session the previous week the idea of both Ash and Dan exchanging cards on their wedding day, but due to time constraints nothing eventuated. Well, Ash found the time and wrote a heartfelt note for Dan which surprised him upon reading.
Ash and the girls got ready at Mimosa Glen Homestead, which is where the reception events would happen later that evening. What a beautiful site. Scenery. Picturesque whatever way you turn. It is clear Ash, Dan and their respective families put a tremendous amount of detail into the planning of this wedding. The rustic DIY wedding suited how relaxed and candid Ash and Dan were on the day.
The ceremony was held at a church in the middle of no where, Saint Martin's Catholic Church in Muskerry. There were no street signs indicating where you were - only hand painted signs on wood strips to affirm to their guests they are indeed travelling in the right direction. The church was on a hill surrounded by paddocks. Idyllic.
It was wonderful to work alongside so many talented professionals on the day which made the day enjoyable and fun. Wedding Coordinator Megan Spielvogel was incredibly helpful throughout the entire day... thanks so much Megan and I look forward to working with you again soon. The unbelievable tones of Rach Brennan who provided the music through the ceremony and reception... such a talent and an amazing voice.
Of course, it was again an absolute privilege working along one of Bendigo's finest photographers, Sarah J Photography. Such a fun day working alongside Sarah + Glenys. You can check out Sarah's amazing photos HERE and see for yourself why she is easily one of the best photographers around.
Finally, to Ash and Dan... you two are amazing. So welcoming. So kind. So considerate. The world is a better place for having you two in it. Thank you so much for inviting me to capture your amazing day and for being unbelievably easy to correspond with. Hope you both enjoyed Singapore and the Maldives... lucky 🙂
