It was an immense honour to travel up north and capture the special day of these two legends.
Back in May 2018, I received a call from Brad - my excitement escalated as I learnt their story and the fact Mel had been following us on socials for some time prior. With the date still to be determined, all seemed to fall into place relatively quickly and soon enough - all was locked in and the countdown was on.
In the short months that followed - it was so easy to correspond and chat with Mel + Brad and I knew this would be a wedding that would be something special. Entrusting in my mate Michael Briggs Photography, the time soon arrived for us to pack our bags and escape the cold and dreary Melbourne to the sunny skies of Lennox Head, NSW - what a weekend.
Mel + Brad were blessed by the weather gods with blue skies and warm tones. You couldn't have asked for better conditions. Preparations were off to a cruisy start on our arrival, with Brad and the boys enjoying a few sneaky bevvies and laughing up a storm. After we got the "getting ready" snaps, the boys stripped off and went for a swim at the beach - what a morning.
Our arrival at Mel's preparations with her bridesmaids was electric - hair and makeup was underway as the girls were getting pampered ahead of the ceremony which was vastly approaching. Mel looked absolutely immaculate in her Rachel Gilbert dress - smiles and happy tears were aplenty for the grand reveal to her bride tribe and parents.
Mel + Brad were fortunate to have their ceremony at Josh's Brother's private property - Yarrandale Farm - a short drive inland from the coast of Lennox Head. This property blew my mind - such a vast open space, animals, a private creek and cows - what more could you want?!
It was soon time for official proceedings to begin, as family and friends gathered from afar. The ceremony started a bit later than first planned, but as the drinks were flowing and everyone was basking in the gorgeous surrounds - no one seemed to mind. As Mel made her grand entrance, Brad's heart skipped a beat - and you can see it in the reaction. Everything about their ceremony was perfection and suited them both to a tea (well, maybe not the ants in the wedding dress fiasco but we will treat that as a 'What happens in Vegas...' policy). Jeremy Bell - That Alter Guy... what an absolute legend. Everyone needs this guy to officiate their ceremony for the perfect blend of humour and heart.
Unwinding after the ceremony, we remained onsite for a few candid moments, before trekking off to the beach opposite the reception and the clifftop at Pat Morton Lookout at Lennox Head. So much gold. So much amazingness and light and wedding feels and love. Everything just flowed and worked. Seamlessly and perfectly. Mel + Brad were absolute superstars, simply taking in every second and enjoying every moment - which radiated on camera. These two are the real deal.
The party kicked on long into the night - the reception at Lennox Head Hotel, overlooking Lennox Head beach as the sun set - absolute perfection. The team at Seven Mile Weddings were absolutely amazing to deal and correspond with - ensuring we were looked after throughout the night so we could capture everything with precision. J-Boots Duo were pumping the tunes through the night as everyone was busting some pretty serious dance moves and partying it up.
Mel + Brad... what can I say? Apart from a massive THANK YOU for entrusting me to capture your special day... it's been a real joy and pleasure to get to know you both and I wish you every bit of happiness as you head into the next stage of your lives as parents. This wedding, for me, is the reason I do what I do... capturing the honesty and love of two people who are amazing both inside and out.
Thanks heaps xx
